 AUTO THEFT C.A.T. PROGRAM

Do you rarely drive your vehicle between
the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.?

Would you like to stop Auto Theft in your Community?
If so.... the Combat Auto TheftProgram is for you.

Combat Auto Theft Program is:
A voluntary vehicle registration program offered free to the public in which residents of a community voluntarily register their personal vehicles with their local Police Department. Once registered, they receive a C. A. T. Program decal to place in the lower left comer of the vehicle's rear window.

By displaying the Decal, the vehicle owner gives law enforcement officers permission to do an investigative stop of the vehicle between 1:00 and 5:00 a.m. to determine if the vehicle has been stolen.

This program in no way restricts a private citizen from legitimately using his/her own vehicle during those hours. However, statistics show that a majority of stolen automobiles are either taken or transported during those early morning hours.
The Program is a State wide effort supported by the West Palm Beach Police Department and many other police agencies throughout the State.
To register for the Program in West Palm Beach, you must be a resident of the City with a driver's license and vehicle registration that shows a West Palm Beach address. Only the registered owner may enroll the vehicle in the program.
The Program is not only in West Palm Beach, but is being successfully used by many law enforcement agencies around our state and across the nation.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Florida State Legislature have mandated and designed a standard Decal to be used in Florida which allows easy recognition in other counties across our State. This means officers from the Panhandle to the Keys will be on the lookout for stolen autos, and the one they find may be yours!
Note: If you do not reside in West Palm Beach, contact your local Police Department or Sheriffs Office and enquire whether they offer the Program.
