| Gary Carroll was raised in the south end of the City of West Palm Beach and attended Palmetto Elementary, Conniston Junior and graduated from Forest Hill High School class of 1975. Carroll attended Florida State University and joined the West Palm Beach Police Department in October 1978. Carroll's initial assignment was to the Uniform Patrol Division and served as a road patrol officer and field training officer. Captain Carroll has held assignments in Patrol, Criminal Investigation Division, SWAT, Internal Affairs, Police Administration, Special Services and currently is the Division Commander of the Community Response Division.
The Community Response Division encompasses the Neighborhood Enhancement Teams, Traffic Division, Aviation Unit, Marine Unit, K-9 Unit, Community Oriented Policing Unit, Crime Prevention, Police Athletic League, Truancy Interdiction Program, Volunteer Programs and the Police Explorers.
Captain Carroll holds a Bachelor's Degree from Barry University and is a graduate of the 101st Administrative Officer's Course of the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville. He is a member of the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee and the Palm Beach County Court System Task Force.
Captain Carroll in married with four children and two grandchildren.
