  ASSISTANT CHIEF DENNIS E. CRISPO 





Assistant Chief CrispoAssistant Chief Dennis Crispo moved to West Palm Beach from Quincy, Massachusetts after graduating college in 1979. His father is a retired Captain from the Boston Fire Department where he worked in the Fire Rescue Unit.

Assistant Chief Crispo joined the West Palm Beach Police Department in 1981 assigned as uniformed Patrol Officer. In 1984 he was assigned as Field Training Officer and SWAT team member. In 1986 he was assigned to a Uniformed Tactical Unit when the crack cocaine epidemic hit South Florida. In 1988 he was assigned to the Criminal Apprehension Team a plain clothes unit created to control street narcotic and prostitution activities. In 1989 he was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division as a detective investigating property, person, arson and auto theft crimes. In 1993 he was transferred to the Special Investigations Division and assigned to the Multi Agency Narcotics (M.A.N) Unit as a task force agent with the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office.

In 1995 Crispo was promoted to Sergeant and placed in charge of the Criminal Apprehension Team. He was reassigned to the SWAT Team as a Team Leader.

In 1998 Crispo was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned as a Patrol Shift Commander in District One. In 2000 he was reassigned to the Special Investigations Division as the Division Commander. The Special Investigations Division is responsible for investigation organized crime, organized narcotic trafficking and prostitution offenses. (See Special Investigations Division web site information for details). During this time Crispo was reassigned to the SWAT Team as the SWAT Team Commander.

In 2001 Crispo was promoted to Captain and assigned as the Uniformed Services, Patrol District II Commander. Later that year he was then reassigned back to the Investigative Services Bureau as the Special Investigations Division Commander when the department was reorganized. Captain Crispo remained as the SWAT Team Commander.

On November 6, 2005 Captain Crispo was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police and placed in command of the Support Services Bureau. The Support Services Bureau consists of the Staff Services and Community Policing Divisions.

In July 2007 Assistant Chief Crispo was transferred and placed in command of the Field Operations Bureau. Field Operations consists of three patrol divisions each commanded by a Captain. Included in the Field Operation Bureau are specialized units, the Entertainment District Unit (EDU), Special Events, Traffic Unit, K-9 and Aviation. A total of 216 sworn officers.

Assistant Chief Crispo is a Graduate of Boston State College/ University of Massachusetts where he received his B.S. Degree in Public Service, Law Enforcement.

He is a graduate of both the FBI National Academy, 225th session in 2006 and the Southern Police Institute, University of Louisville 109th Administrative Officers Course in 2003.

Assistant Chief Crispo is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Tactical Officers Association.
