The West Palm Beach Police Department Crime Scene Unit employees 10 Crime Scene Investigators, 1 Multi-media Technician and 1 Secretary to handle the needs of Crime Scene Investigations in the City. The Crime Scene Unit uses cutting edge technology to obtain valuable evidence in the investigation of the crime scene. That cutting edge technology includes AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System), Alternate Light Sources, Lasers, Ultra-Violet Light, Chemical Dyes, Superglue, Luminol, BlueStar Forensic, Digital Photography and Videography, Electro-static Dust Lifters, Accutrans Casting Materials and Computer Enhancements of Audio, Video and Digital Files. As the newer technology becomes available the West Palm Beach Police Department remains ready to handle any type of crime scene.
