| Assistant Chief Kim Myers joined the West Palm Beach Police Department in 1982. He first served as a uniformed Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, and SWAT team member. In 1985, Myers was selected to join a newly created Uniformed Tactical Team designed to address the Crack Cocaine epidemic which struck South Florida. In 1986, Myers was selected for assignment to the Criminal Investigations Division, where he worked as a Detective in the Violent Crimes / Homicide Unit for five years before his return to the uniformed patrol assignment in 1991.
In 1993, Myers was promoted to Sergeant and worked as a Road Patrol Supervisor on three of the four platoons in the division. In 1994, Myers was selected to return to the Criminal Investigations Division where he supervised the squad of Detectives assigned to investigate violent crimes, crimes against children and homicides. In this assignment, he also supervised the detectives responsible for investigation of the use of deadly force by police officers.
In 1998, Myers was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned as a Patrol Shift Commander in District One. He continued this assignment until 2000 when he was temporarily assigned to the Internal Affairs Unit. Myers was appointed to Captain in September 2000, and placed in command of the Internal Affairs and Staff Inspections Unit. In June 2004, Myers was transferred to the Field Operations Bureau and assumed command of District Two in the Patrol Division. In this assignment, Myers is also charged with oversight of the Field Training Program, Underwater Search & Recovery Team, Honor Guard, and Emergency Field Force.
In 2008, Myers was appointed to the rank of Assistant Chief of Police, and assumed command of the Investigative Services Bureau – composed of the Criminal Investigations Division, and the Special Investigations Division.
CAssistant Chief Myers is a graduate of Barry University where he received a BA Degree in Liberal Arts in 1992. Myers graduated from Lynn University in 2001 with a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. He graduated from the 208th Administrative Officers Course of the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville in 2002. He also completed the Florida Executive Development Program hosted by the F.B.I. and Florida Police Chiefs Association in 2005.
Assistant Chief Myers is a member of the Police Executives Research Forum; the Law Enforcement Executive Development Association; the International Association of Chiefs of Police; Florida Police Chiefs Association; and the Palm Beach County Chiefs Association.
