 GUILLERMO V. PEREZ

Captain Olsen
Chief Perez was born in Havana Cuba in 1958, his family immigrated to the United States in 1960.

Chief Perez began his career with the West Palm Beach Police Department in July 1977 as a police cadet. Chief Perez has worked in every facet of the department, beginning as an Undercover Narcotics Agent, Road Patrol Officer, Traffic Homicide Investigator, Homicide Detective, Detective Sergeant, Road Patrol Sergeant, Lieutenant Shift Commander, Special Services Commander, Captain District Commander, Assistant Chief of Police Field Operations.

Chief Perez has attained an A.S. Degree in Criminal Justice from Palm Beach Community College, B.A. Degree from Barry University, and will attain a Masters of Public Administration from Troy University in the Spring. Chief Perez is a graduate of the 81st. A.O.C. Southern Police Institute University of Louisville.

My goal when I became a police officer was to become the highest ranking Hispanic in the history of the West Palm Beach Police Department. That goal has been met, and now my main goal is that we remain the best police department in the state of Florida. We only retain the best and the brightest and our department stands out as being the most professional and constantly on the cutting edge of new technology and methodology in policing. We are the best because our officers are the best.
